    Nathaniel Baldwin

    Nathaniel Baldwin (1761-1840) served in the Connecticut militia as an infantry soldier in the Sixth Regiment under Colonel Parsons. The Sixth Regiment was organized at the first call for Revolutionary troops. Nathaniel Baldwin was born in Goshen, Litchfield County, Connecticut on July 20, 1761. After the war, Nathaniel married Susanna Sherman. They came to Michigan in 1824 and settled on a tract of land two miles south of Rochester. They had least six children, four sons and two daughters. Nathaniel Baldwin died August 30, 1840, in Oakland County, Michigan and is buried in the Mount Avon Cemetery, Rochester, Oakland County, Michigan.

    Hooper Bishop

    Hooper Bishop (1762-1861) served in the Massachusetts militia as a private in several units. From June-September 1779, he served with Captain John Capenter's Company in Springfield. From October-November 1779, he served in Captain Caleb Keeps Company, Colonel Israel Chapen's Regiment. In troops to reinforce the Continental Army under the command of Captain George Webb. He completed his service in Captain Abel King's Company, Colonel Sear's Regiment. Hooper Bishop was born in Brimfield, Massachusetts, on March 22, 1762. He married Betsey Hyes and they had four children, two sons and two daughters. He moved to Novi, Michigan, sometime before 1840. At the time of his death, he had a wooden leg and was blind. Hooper Bishop died April 3, 1861, and is buried in the Novi Cemetery, located in Novi, Oakland County, Michigan.

    John Blanchard Jr

    John Blanchard, Jr. (1763-1844) served in the New Hampshire militia as a private under the command of Captains Burham, Frye, Livermore Monroe, and Lieutenant Penniman. John Blanchard, Jr. was born on September 11, 1763, in Concord, Merrimack County, Massachusetts. He was married to Hannah Perrin and they had four children, two sons and two daughters. He moved before to Farmington, Michigan about 1832. John Blanchard, Jr. died September 1844, and is buried in the Oakwood Cemetery in Farmington, Oakland County, Michigan.

    Walter Blount

    Walter Blount (1764-1832) served in the Connecticut militia as a private in Captain Campbell's Regiment. Walter Blount was born in Norwich, New London County, Connecticut on May 21, 1764. He married Deborah Herrick and they were the parents of six children. Walter Blount died September 15, 1832, and is buried in Union Corners Cemetery in Troy, Oakland County, Michigan.

    Elias Cady

    Elias Cady (1759-1853) served in the Rhode Island Militia as a private in Co. C, 2nd Regiment in Captains Blue and Morey's Company and Colonel Elisha Morey's Regiment. Elias Cady was born in Smithfield, Providence County, Rhode Island, on September 7, 1759. He was married to Olive Baker and they had six children, two sons and four daughters. He moved to Holly, Michigan in 1838 Elias Cady died March 31, 1853, in Holly, Michigan and was buried in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Holly Township, Oakland County, Michigan.

    Caleb Carr Sr

    Caleb Carr, Sr., a Methodist preacher, served in the Massachusetts militia as a private in Captain Millard's Company, Colonel John Waterman's Regiment. Later, he served as a corporal in Captain Millard's Company, Colonel Wakeman's 1st Division. Caleb Carr, Sr. was born on October 13, 1762, in West Greenwich, Kent County, Rhode Island. He married Honor Austin and they had four children, three sons and one daughter. Caleb Carr, Sr. died July 1839, in Novi and is buried in the Novi Cemetery in Novi, Oakland County, Michigan.

    Joshua Chamberlin

    Joshua Chamberlin (1763-1827) served in the Massachusetts militia as a private in the Massachusetts 1st Brigade, Captain Jeremiah Miller's Company, Colonel Vose's Regiment. Joshua Chamberlin was born in Stockbridge, Berkshire County, Massachusetts, on July 31, 1763. He was married to Sarah Brown and they had three sons, and four daughters, Mercy, Brown, Dr. Olmstead Chamberlin, Sarah, Phebe, Almira, and Joshua. He moved to Pontiac, Michigan with his sons, Joshua Jr. and Dr. Olmstead Chamberlin. Joshua Chamberlin died February 20, 1827, in Pontiac, and is buried in the Oak HIll Cemetery in Pontiac, Oakland County, Michigan.

    Cyrus Chipman

    Cyrus Chipman (1751-1840) served in the Vermont militia as a private in Captain John Spafford's Company, commanded by Colonel Gideon Warren and later, Colonel Ebenezer Allen. Cyrus Chipman was born in Salisbury, Litchfield County, Connecticut, on December 3, 1751. He married Hannah "Anna" Fitch and they had eleven children. Chipman came to Rochester, Oakland County, Michigan in 1826 where he acquired government land to farm. Cyrus Chipman died September 18, 1840, and is buried in the Mount Avon Cemetery, Rochester, Oakland County, Michigan.

    Jeremiah Clark II

    Jeremiah Clark, Jr. (1760-1845) served in the Vermont militia, first as a private in Captain Issac Clark's Company, and later as a corporal in Captain Samuel Robinson's Company, Colonel Herrick's Regiment. Jeremiah Clark, Jr. was born in Preston, New London County, Connecticut on November 3, 1760. He Married Sarah Millington and they had fourteen children, seven sons and seven daughters. He moved to Oakland County, Michigan in 1831, and settled in Independence Township. Jeremiah Clark Jr. died June 1, 1845, in Clarkston, and is buried in the Lakeview Cemetery in Independence Township, Oakland County, Michigan.

    Elijah Drake

    Elijah Drake (1759-1847) served in the Pennsylvania militia as a private in Captain Benjamin Schoohoven's Company, Colonel Jacob Stroud's Regiment and later Colonel Armstrong's Regiment. He also served as a scout during the Indian alarms under Ensign Samuel Shoemaker. Elijah Drake was born in Northampton County, Pennsylvania, on July 4, 1759. He married Abigail Stoddard and they had six sons. He moved to Oakland County, Michigan, in 1835, with his sons. Elijah Drake died on April 8, 1847, in Royal Oak, and is buried in the Royal Oak Cemetery, Oakland County, Michigan.

    James Graham

    James Graham (1749-1837) served in the Connecticut militia as a corporal in Captain Dethic Hewitt's Company, and later Captain Simon Spaulding's Company, Colonel Zabulon Butler's Regiment. James Graham was born in 1749 in Ireland. He married Mary Van de Mark and they had two sons. He came and settled in the area of Michigan later to be known as Oakland County between 1816 and 1817. The Graham settlement was the first non-native community in Oakland County. James Graham died September 5, 1837, and is buried in the Graham family cemetery in Avon Township. Later, in 1926, he was entombed in the Perry Mount Park Cemetery, Pontiac, Oakland County, Michigan.

    Levi Green

    Levi Green (1758-1851) served in both the Massachusetts and New York militias as a private in Captain Baldwin's Company; Captain Newell's Company; and Captain Brown's Company, Colonel Simond's Regiment. During his service he also spent time as a ranger. Levi Green was born in Coventry, Kent County, Rhode Island on June 6, 1758. He married Asenath Robinson and they had ten children. He came to West Bloomfield, Michigan in 1832. Levi Green died June 24, 1851, in West Bloomfield and is buried in the North Farmington Cemetery in Farmington Hills, Oakland County, Michigan.

    Esbon Gregory

    Esbon Gregory (1761-1845) served in the Massachusetts militia as a private in Captain Amariah Babbitt's Company, Colonel Benjamin Simon's Regiment. He later served in Captain Herrick's Company, Colonel Seth Warner's Regiment. As a sergeant he served in Captain Barnes' Company, Colonel Israel Capen's Regiment. Esbon Gregory was born in New Fairfield, Fairfield County, Connecticut on January 29, 1761. He married Polly Sherwood and they had six children. He was shown living in Troy, Oakland County, Michigan, in 1837. Esbon Gregory died in 1845 and is buried in Union Corners Cemetery, Troy, Oakland County, Michigan.

    James Harrington

    James B. Harrington (1763-1825) served in Rhode Island militia as a corporal in Captain Allen's Company, Colonel Crary's Regiment. James B. Harrington was born in Foster, Providence County, Rhode Island on June 27, 1763. He married Martha Gould and they had a daughter. Harrington purchased a farm in Auburn Hills, Oakland County, Michigan, and lived there until his death. James B. Harrington died October 13, 1825, and is buried in the Aaron Webster Cemetery located in Auburn Hills. Oakland County, Michigan.

    George Horton

    George Horton (1761-1835) served in the Pennsylvania militia as a private in the Class 2, 7th Company, 5th Battalion, commanded by Captain Henry Shoemaker. George Horton was born in Dutchess County, New York, on March 23, 1761. He married Elsie Shoemaker and they had three children, two daughters and a son. They arrived in Michigan in 1825 and later settled in Avon Township outside of Rochester. George Horton died October 28, 1835, and is buried in the Mount Avon Cemetery in Rochester, Oakland County, Michigan.

    Enoch Hotchkiss

    Enoch Hotchkiss (1763-1822) sources claim he served as a soldier in the Revolutionary War. Enoch Hotchkiss was born in East Haven, Connecticut, on January 17. 1763. He married Lois Wolcott and they at least four children. He came to Michigan in 1819 and located on a farm in Oakland County. Enoch Hotchkiss died in 1822, and was buried in the orchard on his family farm located in Pontiac, Oakland County, Michigan.

    Derrick Hulick

    Derrick Hulick (1759-1843) served in the New Jersey militia as a private in Captain William Baird's Company, Colonel Quick's Regiment; Captain Ryner Staats' Company, Colonel Freylinghuyen's Regiment; Captain John Baird's Company, Colonel Webster's Regiment; and Captain Joakim Gulick's Company, Colonel Dyke's Regiment. Derrick Hulick was born in Western Preconet, Somerset County, New Jersey on May 5, 1759. He married Ann….and they had four children, two sons and two daughters. He came to Michigan in 1839, settling in Addison Township. Derrick Hulick died April 21, 1843, and is buried in the Lakeville Cemetery located in Lakeville, Oakland County, Michigan.

    Solomon Jones

    Solomon Jones (1760-1865) served in the Connecticut militia as a solder in Captain Abyah Rowles 6th Company and was later ordered to Boston. Solomon Jones was born in Saybrook, Connecticut in 1760. He married Hannah Friday, his second wife, and they had seven children. He came to Michigan in 1843 and settled in Springfield. Solomon Jones died in 1865, at the age of 104-105. He is buried in the Davisburg Cemetery located in Davisburg, Oakland County, Michigan.

    Nathaniel Landon

    Nathaniel Landon (1757-1851) as a private served in the New Jersey militia in Captain Archibald Shaw's Company, Colonel William C. Maxwell's Regiment; the Pennsylvania militia in Captain Hawkins Boone's Company, Captain Robinson's Regiment and later Captain Robinson's Company, Colonel Elder's Regiment; and the New York militia in Colonel Henry Wisner's 4th Regiment. Nathaniel Landon was born in New York in 1757. He married Hannah Greene and they had five children, two girls and three boys. He came to Oakland County, Michigan about 1828. He was last of the Revolutionary War soldiers to file for a pension in Oakland County. Nathaniel Landon died in 1851, and was buried in the Lakeview Cemetery in Addison Township, Oakland County, Michigan.

    Peter Low

    Peter Low (1760-1835) served in New York as a private in the New York State Troops. Peter Low was born in Goshen, Orange County, New York, on March 14, 1760. He married Elizabeth Coddington and they had two daughters. Peter Low died on November 21, 1835, and is buried in the Pioneer Cemetery in Southfield, Oakland County, Michigan.

    Stephen Mack

    Stephen Mack (1766-1826) served as a privateer with his father and brother at the age of thirteen. He served in the New Hampshire militia as a private in Captain John Trotter's Company, Colonel Rufus Putnam's 5th Regiment and then Captain Nehemiah Houghton's Company, Colonel Nichols' Regiment at West Point. Stephen Mack was born in Marlow, Cheshire County, New Hampshire on June 15, 1766. He married Temperance Bond and they had twelve children, nine daughters and three sons. He moved his family to Michigan in the 1820s, briefly living in Detroit before settling in Pontiac. He is known as the founder of Pontiac and represented Oakland County in the first Michigan Territorial Council of 1824. Stephen Mack died November 11, 1826, and is buried in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Pontiac, Oakland County, Michigan.

    Caleb Barton Merrill

    Caleb Barton Merrill (1764-1842) served in the Massachusetts Continental Line as a private in the Ninth Regiment in Captain Thomas Hunt's Company of Light Infantry under Colonel Henry Jackson and later in the Second Regiment in Captain Robert Bradford's Company under Colonel Ebenezer Sprout. Caleb Barton Merrill was born in Tyringham, Berkshire County, Massachusetts on April 25, 1764. He married Sarah Jackson and together they had several children. They moved to Springfield Township, Michigan in 1841. Caleb Barton Merrill died July 2, 1842, and is buried in the Lakeview Cemetery in Clarkston, Oakland County, Michigan.

    Thomas Moreland

    Thomas Moreland (1764-1846) served in the Pennsylvania militia as a private in Captain Thomas Gaskins' Company. Thomas Moreland was born in Pennsylvania on February 27, 12764. He married Leah Van Campen and they had one son. Thomas Moreland died in Michigan on September 14, 1846, and is buried in the Aaron Webster Cemetery in Auburn Hills, Oakland County, Michigan.

    John Mudge

    John Mudge (1755-1839) a chaplain and Baptist minister served in the Massachusetts militia, Berkshire Men Militia, as a private in Captains Porter, Stone, and Rowley's Company, Colonel Patterson's Regiment. John Mudge was born in Sharon, Litchfield County, Connecticut on November 21, 1755. He married three times, 1779 to Azeuba Benton, 1786 to Sarah Chauncy, and 1828 to Lucy Yeamans. He fathered four children. After the war he moved to Michigan and was the first veteran buried in the West Highland Cemetery. John Mudge died June 5, 1839, and is buried in the West Highland Cemetery in Highland, Oakland County, Michigan.

    Samuel Niles

    Samuel Niles (1755-1838) served in the Rhode Island militia as a private in Captain Dyer's Company, Colonel Lippett's Regiment. Samuel Niles was born in West Greenwich, Providence County, Rhode Island on October 4, 1755, He was married twice, first to Susannah Johnson and later to Lucy Roberts. He fathered three sons. Samuel Niles died July 9, 1838, and is buried in the Crooks Road Cemetery in Troy, Oakland County, Michigan.

    Ambrose Orvis

    Ambrose Orvis (1758-1844) served in both the Massachusetts and New Hampshire militia as a private in Companies led by Captains Warriner, Abraham, Williams, and Fox and Regiments commanded by Colonels Sprout and Hall. He was also a musician playing the snare drum for both of George Washington's presidential inaugural ceremonies. Ambrose Orvis was born in Halifax, Windham County, New Hampshire on July 7, 1758. He married Rebecca Galpin and they had three children. He moved to Michigan in 1842. Ambrose Orvis died August 30, 1844, in Wixom, Oakland County, Michigan and is buried in the New Hudson Cemetery in New Hudson, Oakland County, Michigan.

    Ezra Parker

    Ezra Parker (1745-1842) served in the Massachusetts militia as a sergeant in Captains Reubin Hinman and Enos Parker's, Companies, Colonels Seth Warner and Benjamin Symonds' Regiments. He was the orderly sergeant for General Benedict Arnold's march to Quebec. Ezra Parker was born in Wallingford, New Haven County, Connecticut on December 13, 1745. He was married to Sarah Tuttle and later to Elizabeth Perry. He fathered eleven children. He moved in 1835 to Royal Oak, Michigan. Ezra Parker died July 7, 1842, and is buried in the Royal Oak Cemetery in Royal Oak, Oakland County, Michigan.

    Jacob Petty

    Jacob Petty (1760-1837) served in the New Jersey militia as a private and waggoneer in Captains White, Henry, McCullough, and Petty's Companies; and Colonels West, Hooper, and Morgan's Regiments. He also served in Morgan's Rifle Regiment. He claimed to have served in George Washington's bodyguard. Jacob Petty was born in Mansfield, Sussex County, New Jersey in 1760. He was married to "Effy" Eve and they had six children. He moved to Michigan in 1834. Jacob Perry died June 17, 1837, and is buried in the Sashabaw Plains Cemetery in Clarkston, Oakland County, Michigan.

    Joel Phelps

    Joel Phelps (1755-1838) served in the Massachusetts militia as a sergeant in Captain John McKinstry's Company, Colonel John Paterson's Regiment; Captain Hall's Company, Colonel Henry Sherbourn Regiment; and Captain Stephen Hardin's Company, Colonel Zebulon Butler's Regiment. He also served as quartermaster in General Burgoyne's Army of Virginia. Joel Phelps was born in Wyoming Valley, Pennsylvania on July 16, 1755. He married Anner Baney and they had twelve children. He moved to Oakland County, Michigan in 1837. Joel Phelps died February 22, 1838, and is buried in Rose Corners Cemetery in Rose Township, Oakland County, Michigan.

    Sarah Cole Phelps (1765-1840) served in the Revolutionary War. Sarah Cole Phelps was born in Lebanon, New London County, Connecticut. She was married to Norman Phelps Sr. And they had eight children. Sarah Cole Phelps died September 11, 1840, and is buried in the Ortonville Cemetery in Ortonville, Oakland County, Michigan.

    Norman Phelps Sr. (1763-1840) served in the Connecticut militia as a private and musician-fifer in Captain Lathran's Company, Colonel Lidgard's Regiment; Captain John's Company, Colonel Latimer's Regiment; and Captain Teannot Wolcut's Company, Colonel Hezekiel Holdridge's Regiment, and General Kunton's Brigade. Norman Phelps Sr. Was born in Hebron, Hartford County, Connecticut on November 8, 1763. He married Sarah Cole and they had eight children. They moved to Michigan in 1840. Norman Phelps Sr. Died September 18, 1840, and is buried in the Ortonville Cemetery, Oakland County, Michigan.

    Lydia Barnes Potter

    Lydia Barnes Potter (1757-1836) according to Potter family lore was a patriot, "Lydia Barnes, who was devoting her whole time and strength to the service of her country by making clothing for the soldiers at the front. She spun and wove the wool and cut and made the garments, learning the tailor's trade that she might the more expeditiously supply the soldier's needs." Lydia Barnes Potter was born in Farmington, Hartford County, Connecticut on April 27, 1757. She married Lemuel Potter and they had nine children. After her husband's death, in 1826, she moved to Oakland County to live with her daughter, Merilla Potter Hemingway. Lydia Barnes Potter died August 28, 1836, and is buried in the Paints Creek Cemetery in Lake Orion, Oakland County, Michigan.

    Caleb Pratt

    Caleb Pratt (1760-1843) served in the Vermont militia as a private in Captain Gideon Seeger's Company, Colonel Robinson's Regiment, and Colonel Seth Warner's Regiment. Caleb Pratt was born in Hampshire County, Massachusetts, in November 1760. He is known to have one son. He came to Michigan with his son, Captain John W. Pratt, settling in Springfield Township. Caleb Pratt died on May 4, 1843, and is buried in the Andersonville Cemetery located in Springfield Township, Oakland County, Michigan.

    Ithamar Smith

    Ithamar Smith (1756-1844) served in the Massachusetts militia as a private in Captain Josiah Smith's Company, Colonel Whitney's Regiment, Captain Richard Faxon's Company, and Colonel David Mason's Regiment. He served as a quartermaster under Colonel William Smith. Ithamar Smith was born in Longmeadow, Hampton County, Massachusetts on January 13, 1756. He was married to Lucy Nevers and they had thirteen children. A blacksmith by trade he moved to Pontiac, Michigan in 1835. Ithamar Smith died September 1, 1844, and is buried in the Oak Hill Cemetery located in Pontiac, Oakland County, Michigan.

    Ebenezer Smith (1756-1825) served in the Berkshire County, Massachusetts Militia as a private in Captain Enos Parker's Company, and Colonel Jacob Gerrish's Regiment of Guards. Ebenezer Smith was born in Sheffield, Berkshire County, Massachusetts on April 2, 1756. He married Mary Gould and they had seven children, four sons and three daughters. Ebenezer Smith died October 1825, and is buried in the Aaron Webster Cemetery located in Auburn Hills, Oakland County, Michigan.

    Silas Sprague (1762-1841) served in the Massachusetts militia as a private in Companies led by Captains Christopher Marshall, Goodrich, and Thomas Ingersoll and Regiments commanded by Colonels Ashley and Marshall. Silas Sprague was born in Lebanon, Windham County, Connecticut on February 18, 1762. He married Mary Polly Leonard and they had eight children, seven sons and one daughter. He moved to Oakland County living with his son, Silas Sprague. Silas Sprague died March 8, 1841, and is buried in Crooks Road Cemetery located in Troy, Oakland County, Michigan.

    Jonathan Frost Stratton

    Jonathan Stratton (1765-1825) served in the Massachusetts militia as a private in Captain David Holbrook's Company, Colonel William Shepard's 4th Regiment. Jonathan Stratton was born in Sherborne, Middlesex County, Massachusetts on January 20, 1765. He married Ruth Foster and they had fourteen children. Jonathan Stratton died August 23, 1825, and was buried at the Stratton Family Farm in Ann Arbor, Washtenaw County, Michigan. After his death, his wife and several of her children moved to Highland, Michigan. In 1894, his body was moved to the Stratton family plot in the Highland Cemetery located in Highland, Oakland County, Michigan.

    Willian Nathan Terry

    William Nathan Terry (1760-1840) served in the Pennsylvania militia as a private in Captain Ransom’s Company, Colonel William’s 4th Regiment. He fought at the Battle of Bunker Hill, 1775. illiam Nathan Terry was born 1760, in Mattituck, Suffolk County, New York. He married Eleanor Lewis and they had eleven children. He came to Pontiac, Michigan in 1824, settling on the Saginaw Turnpike. William Nathan Terry died January 20, 1840, and is buried in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Pontiac, Oakland County, Michigan.

    Joseph Todd

    Joseph Todd Jr. (1765-1848) served in the New York militia as a private in Captain Bertholf's Company, Colonel Henry Wisner's Regiment. Joseph Todd Jr. was born in Warwick. Orange County, New York on February 11, 1765. He married Julia Johnson and later remarried Patty Turner Lee. He fathered seven children. He arrived in Pontiac, Michigan, January 1819. Joseph Todd Jr. died August 4, 1848 and is buried in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Pontiac, Oakland County, Michigan.

    Michael Van Wagoner

    Michael Van Wagoner (1746-1825) served in the New York militia as a private in Captain Aaron Hale's Company, Colonel Marinus Willet's Regiment. Michael Van Wagoner was born in Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, New York on September 16, 1746. He married Hannah and they had two sons. His wife died enroute to Michigan. He settled in Stoney Creek, Avon Township, Oakland County, Michigan about 1823. Michael Van Wagoner died in 1825 and was the first person buried in the Old Stoney Cemetery, Rochester Hills, Oakland County, Michigan. His grave is unmarked.

    Zadock Wellman Jr. (170-1849) served in the Connecticut militia as a private in Captains Gale, Baldwin, and Wright's Companies. He later served in the Vermont militia in Captains Ives, Jessie, Sawyer's Companies, Colonel Ira Allen's Regiment. Zadock Wellman Jr. was born in Killingworth, Middlesex County, Connecticut on September 2, 1760. He married Martha Chatfield and they had five children. He settled in Troy, Michigan with his two sons, Joel and Aaron, about 1819. Zadock Wellman Jr. died 1849 and is buried in the Union Corner Cemetery in Troy, Oakland County, Michigan.

    James G Wilsey

    James G. Wilsey (1758-1844) served in the New York militia as a private, minuteman, and scout in Captain Garrison's Company, Colonel Van Veghton's Regiment. James G. Wilsey was born in Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, New York on September 13, 1758. He married Petronella Wilsey and later married Dorothy Bernson. He fathered five children. James G. Wilsey died December 11, 1844 and is buried in the New Hudson Cemetery in New Hudson, Oakland County, Michigan.
