Nathaniel Baldwin (1761-1840) served in the Connecticut militia as an infantry soldier in the Sixth Regiment under Colonel Parsons. The Sixth Regiment was organized at the first call for Revolutionary troops. Nathaniel Baldwin was born in Goshen, Litchfield County, Connecticut on July 20, 1761. After the war, Nathaniel married Susanna Sherman. They came to Michigan in 1824 and settled on a tract of land two miles south of Rochester. They had least six children, four sons and two daughters. Nathaniel Baldwin died August 30, 1840, in Oakland County, Michigan and is buried in the Mount Avon Cemetery, Rochester, Oakland County, Michigan.
