  • Revolutionary War Patriot Michael Van Wagoner (1746-1825) served in the New York militia as a private in Captain Aaron Hale's Company, Colonel Marinus Willet's Regiment. Michael Van Wagoner was born in Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, New York on September 16, 1746. He married Hannah and they had two sons. His wife died enroute to Michigan. He settled in Stoney Creek, Avon Township, Oakland County, Michigan about 1823. Michael Van Wagoner died in 1825 and was the first person buried in the Old Stoney Cemetery, Rochester Hills, Oakland County, Michigan. His grave is unmarked.
