Samuel Niles (1755-1838) served in the Rhode Island militia as a private in Captain Dyer's Company, Colonel Lippett's Regiment. Samuel Niles was born in West Greenwich, Providence County, Rhode Island on October 4, 1755, He was married twice, first to Susannah Johnson and later to Lucy Roberts. He fathered three sons. Samuel Niles died July 9, 1838, and is buried in the Crooks Road Cemetery in Troy, Oakland County, Michigan.
