Elijah Drake

  • Revolutionary War Patriot Elijah Drake (1759-1847) served in the Pennsylvania militia as a private in Captain Benjamin Schoohoven's Company, Colonel Jacob Stroud's Regiment and later Colonel Armstrong's Regiment. He also served as a scout during the Indian alarms under Ensign Samuel Shoemaker. Elijah Drake was born in Northampton County, Pennsylvania, on July 4, 1759. He married Abigail Stoddard and they had six sons. He moved to Oakland County, Michigan, in 1835, with his sons. Elijah Drake died on April 8, 1847, in Royal Oak, and is buried in the Royal Oak Cemetery, Oakland County, Michigan.
