Chapter History
- The Jeremiah Clark Chapter is a chapter of the Michigan Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR). The chapter was established in December 2022, after the idea to create a chapter in the Clarkston/Waterford area was introduced by Rod Wilson and David Suzor. The first meeting to discuss the formation of the chapter was held in October 2022, and the application for charter was signed during a meeting in December of the same year.
- At the charter signing meeting on December 20, 2022, Charlotte Cooper gave a genealogical history of the Jeremiah Clark family during the meeting. Members in attendance voted unanimously to choose the name Jeremiah Clark Chapter, in honor of the Clark family, after which Clarkston is named.
- After the chapter's approval for charter on February 18, 2023, the officers were approved at a chapter meeting on February 21, 2023. The founding officers included David Suzor as President, Mick Packard as Vice President, Doug Brown as Treasurer, Mike Packard as Secretary, Mike Packard and Ken Loudy as Registrar/Genealogists, Luke Frye as Trustee, Grant Goulet as Public Relations, and Dave Decker as Historian.
- The Jeremiah Clark Chapter is dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and supporting better education for the nation's youth, as is the mission of the SAR. The chapter will organize events and activities in line with these objectives, including historical research, community service, and educational programs.
