The Jeremiah Clark Chapter would like to thank David Walls, Diana Walls and the Davisburg Rotary club for donating a flag to our chapter. The American flag holds significant importance to the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) due to its deep historical and patriotic symbolism. Below are some details on how the flag will be used.
Flag Display: The American flag will be prominently displayed during each of our chapter meetings.
Pledge of Allegiance: Chapter meetings begin with the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. Members stand, face the flag, and place their right hands over their hearts while reciting the pledge. This is a way of reaffirming loyalty and allegiance to the United States.
Opening and Closing Ceremonies: The flag may be a central part of the opening and closing ceremonies. These events may commence with a formal ritual that includes saluting the flag, and a similar ceremony might be performed at the end of the meeting.
Color Guard: Our chapter color guards may participate in flag presentations and parades during special events or significant occasions.
Flag Etiquette: During chapter meetings, the flag's proper etiquette is observed. This includes not letting it touch the ground, avoiding placing other objects on top of it, and handling it with care and respect.
Guest Speakers and Presentations: If the meeting includes guest speakers or presentations related to American history, patriotism, or the Revolutionary War era, the flag might serve as a backdrop or visual representation of the topics being discussed.
Educational Element: The flag might also serve as an educational tool, where discussions about the history of the flag, its design, and its evolution can take place, fostering a deeper understanding of its significance.
In essence, the American flag is treated with honor and respect during SAR chapter meetings, reflecting the organization's dedication to preserving the historical legacy of the American Revolution and the principles for which the flag stands.
