Clarkston to Honor Revolutionary War Patriots with Grave Marking and America 250 Plaque Dedication
Clarkston, MI – The Jeremiah Clark Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution (SAR), the Sashabaw Plains Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), the Michigan Society Children of the American Revolution (CAR), and the Elias Cady Chapter (CAR) are pleased to invite the community to a historic commemorative event:
The Patriots' Grave Marking Service and America 250 Plaque Dedication will be held on Saturday, September 20, at 2:00 p.m. at Lakeview Cemetery, 6150 White Lake Road, Clarkston, MI.
This meaningful ceremony will honor the patriot family of Corporal Jeremiah Clark, Jr., his wife Sarah Millington Clark, and their daughter Lydia Clark Brown. In addition, an America 250 Plaque will be dedicated in recognition of Corporal Jeremiah Clark, Jr. and Private Caleb Barton Merrill, two patriots whose legacies live on in the Clarkston area.
The Clark family played a foundational role in the community’s history — the City of Clarkston bears their name. Today, Clark family homes and the graves of these patriots stand as lasting reminders of their contributions to both the nation and the local community.
The ceremony will feature the Michigan Society SAR Color Guard and a special appearance by the 1st Royal Artillery, bringing history to life with stirring pageantry and tribute.
This event is free and open to the public. Residents, descendants, and all who wish to honor America’s founding generation are warmly encouraged to attend and reflect on the sacrifices that secured our nation’s liberty.
