Patriot Summary
John Mudge (1755-1839) a chaplain and Baptist minister served in the Massachusetts militia, Berkshire Men Militia, as a private in Captains Porter, Stone, and Rowley's Company, Colonel Patterson's Regiment. John Mudge was born in Sharon, Litchfield County, Connecticut on November 21, 1755. He married three times, 1779 to Azeuba Benton, 1786 to Sarah Chauncy, and 1828 to Lucy Yeamans. He fathered four children. After the war he moved to Michigan and was the first veteran buried in the West Highland Cemetery.
